In 2016, The 175-room Marriott Port-au-Prince, the premier address for business and leisure hospitality in Haiti’s capital as well as the country’s newest hotel, has named Stephanie Barnes as its new Director of Sales. Mrs. Barnes oversees all Marriott Port-au-Prince sales and marketing initiatives, including advertising, public relations, and social media, while also directing the hotel’s comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility program.

A native of Boston, Mrs. Barnes brings nearly 10 years of hospitality industry experience to her new role at The Marriott Port-au-Prince. Immediately prior to ascending to the Director of Sales post, Mrs. Barnes served as the hotel’s Marketing Manager, playing a key role in launching the property in 2015.

Before relocating to Haiti in 2015, Mrs. Barnes held the position of Group Sales Manager at the Boston Marriott Newton Hotel. Her hospitality career also includes managerial posts overseeing sales, events, and catering at Marriott and Renaissance Hotels properties throughout New England.

“Few life experiences, much less jobs, could be more rewarding than the work I feel lucky enough to be doing at The Marriott Port-au-Prince,” said Mrs. Barnes. “From the cleaning staff and maintenance workers on up to the top hotel executives and ownership, we’re all singularly focused on not simply delivering an exceptional hotel product, but also building a better Haiti each and every day. Stay with us and see; there’s something very special happening here.”

A graduate of The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Mrs. Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and International Business.
