Money: It’s no secret that events are used to drive the economy of the city in which they are held. This weekend’s data shows that most hotels were fully booked, transportation companies and rental business saw an increased demand for services, as well as several food companies. Based on the available data, at least $100,000 was directly invested in the local economy during the weekend of June 27-30–a major win for local businesses no matter the size. TIS team members mostly contracted local companies and talents for the first edition of this impactful annual event.
Reputation: Cap-Haitien is one of the most historical cities in Haiti and perhaps in the entire Caribbean, and a unique place with the most amazing beaches. However, not many people know about it. Travel Noire and Balvity team members and other participants were very impressed by the city’s tourism potential. Different contents were created to promote the city in the next few weeks. We expect to see Cap-Haitien positioning itself as a known tourist destination with an increase in visitors next year.
Culture: It is safe to conclude that the Tourism Innovation Summit adds value to the city through the creation of new identity, and a style that people can really rally around. The event stimulates increased tourism while adding a unique flavor to the city. TIS team members are committed to continuing to work with various local influencers, including the city’s government, public officials, and local entrepreneurs to facilitate the planning process to develop the culture our organization intends to inspire in Cap-Haitien.
